After every recementation — whether because of the time elapsed between two cementations and the dental system's natural dynamism, or simply because of a change in cement type and a difference in film thickness between them — I recheck the occlusion; this sensitivity matters even more in a group function scheme, where the smallest change can create interference in lateral movements
This note is about a routine habit at the final stage of cementing a crown — especially in implant cases that start with a provisional cement, where the crown is more likely to come loose. The reason for this rechecking is two separate factors, each of which can change the crown's seating position and occlusal surface enough to be noticeable on examination.

Clinical Explanation
One thing I always do is that after recementing — which happens mostly in implant cases because I start with a provisional cement — I always recheck the occlusion. There are two specific reasons for this. -
First Factor: Elapsed Time and the Dynamism of the Dental System
If a long time has passed between cementations, the occlusion changes. The oral and dental system is dynamic and teeth shift over time; there is even a paper showing that occlusion changes over time even in full-mouth implant cases. So when time has passed, rechecking the occlusion is a routine step. -
Second Factor: Changing the Cement Type and Film Thickness
But even if I used a provisional cement and not much time has passed, and I simply want to switch the cement type, I still recheck the occlusion. What we know about the film thickness of cements points to exactly this: the difference in thickness between different cements (for example, a greater thickness with zinc phosphate) can change the crown's seating position and the occlusal surface. -
Sensitivity in Group Function
These changes caused by film thickness matter especially in group function schemes, where the smallest change can create interference in lateral movements.
